The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) has updated its Beneficial Ownership Information Frequently Asked Questions to include new information about reporting companies, beneficial owners, company applicants, reporting requirements, and reporting company exemptions, as well as updated information about FinCEN identifiers. Check the FAQ page to see if you are exempt from this filing.  Insurance Companies, State-Licensed Insurance Producers, Banks, Accounting Firms, Tax-exempt Entities, Inactive entities and banks are just a few of those EXEMPT from this requirement.  Sole Proprietors that do NOT have an LLC also do not need to file a BOI report.

Deadline to File:

  1. Companies created prior to 1/1/2024:  1/1/25
  2. Companies created during the year of 2024:  90 calendar days from filing date
  3. Companies created on 1/1/25 or after: Within 30 calendar days of filing
